The colorful and cultural universe of artist Luíde Araújo

Every line, color, and gesture reveal the living essence of Bahia in the works of visual artist Luíde Araújo, who transforms the daily lives of the Bahian people into a visual celebration of culture, faith, and feeling. "Every minute I see the people living, art is created," says the artist, who uses a primitive style to portray the strength and simplicity of life on canvases filled with emotion and identity. Born in Candeal de Brotas, Salvador, in September 1967, Luíde carries in his art his African heritage and the direct influence of great masters. His career began at Galeria de Carybé, where he worked for 11 years until Carybé himself encouraged him to paint. With a career marked by encounters with artists such as Jorge Amado, Pierre Verger, Calasans Neto, Carlos Bastos, Gener Augusto, Cezar Romero, and Ramiro Bernabó, Luíde has built a solid career, where Bahia expresses itself on each canvas—vivid, intense, and diverse. Currently, he continues to work at Carybé's gallery in Ladeira da Barra, promoting the master's works and exhibiting his own creations alongside his. His artistic career includes national and international exhibitions, reaffirming his importance in the visual arts scene.
